Have you ever had a philosophical debate about the existence of God, or the Big Bang? You're usually drunk and/or high when you're young, then you're usually sober and are giving it alot of thought when you're older. Then you go crazy and have a mid life crisis, get a tattoo, join a band and hang out at clubs wearing the same clothing you wore when you USED to go clubbing 20 years ago, with your confidence and denial overshadowing the fact that you realllyyy don't belong.
Kinda like this guy:

At least HE'S getting some...
However, there tends to be a consistency in the discussion on Religion vs Science regardless of age: isolation; the heart and soul of what defines constructive social discourse. It's a prerequisite to having a proper, well thought out discussion on something that is currently way too mainstream to talk about. Maximum 3, maybe 4 people at once. This rarely ever happens now. These kind of conversations happen at bars or on an open panel, which is fine... but the problem is that the audience members have already made up their mind and are just going to clap, boo, heckle and speak out whenever they like, which ironically destroys the whole concept of an open discussion.
The biggest problem we face is that we live in a society where people strongly believe that God is the soul reason why we exist and that we can't explain it because it is supernatural to a sense, which is a total cop out. Then when you try to suggest an alternative theory, such as REAL LIFE, they ask you to prove it. But because we are so rational in our thought process, we choose to use words carefully and realise that we don't know enough to answer the question they have asked since we're not physicists or scientists. This, for some odd reason, grants a default WIN to the other side in their eyes.
Now, my stance on the whole religion vs science debate is quite simple; If God exists, it can be proven. Scientists are awesome, they ask questions we wouldn't begin to comprehend like "Can something come from nothing?". So let the scientists do what they do best and continue exploring the birth of the cosmos. Because the truth of the matter is our evolution had relied on, and continues to rely on our predisposed curiosity on who we are and where we come from to venture forth into a better and more livable society.
